Hello Beautiful People,
Have you noticed just how many Substacks there are now? I subscribe to like 80! I had to pare down recently, reducing paid newsletters to about 5, cancelling the ones that don’t give you the entire post for free (I detest a paywall. I don’t hit subscribe. I hit unsubscribe), and hanging on to just one or two in a category (like one on cooking & recipes
, one news , one political cartoons ), one (or five or nine) literary newsletters, , , , , , , . Substacks that feed my brain like , and my body . And of course, Ayurveda .I began sending on Substack in 2021. I’ve had a regular newsletter since 2004, when I opened my bookstore (breathe books 2004 - 2014, RIP). From AOL to Constant Contact to Substack, it has evolved. I have evolved. You have evolved! And now we are inundated with so much fantastic writing, we don’t know what to do with it! Pare down, I say. Or send them directly to an email address you only check once a month, and savor it.
All that being said, there are about 6000 of you here from around the world and I love you for staying with me!
Ok so here’s the local stuff:

Classes!! Writing, Menopause, Ayurveda (in other words, My Life!)
Thursday, May 8, 11 am - 12:30 pm (and every second Thursday of the month. Write with me at The Station on Falls Road. (If you have written with me before, please leave a little testimonial in the comments!) Once a month, we gather in person to write, led into the practice with meditation and a prompt to get the creative juices moving through your veins. Then we write write write like mad for about 20 minutes, shake out our hands, catch our breath, and read aloud the magic that appeared out of nowhere on the page! Believe me, it's always magical. Your words, feelings, thoughts, and memories pour out - stuff you didn't even know was there. As it is read aloud, the stories are absorbed by the group and everyone is astonished at what just happened. This happens every time, and I've been leading these groups and trips since 2020. Don't be afraid...or go ahead and be afraid! Whatever works for you - just come and see what happens. It's free! This Thursday, May 8, 11 am at The Station on Falls Road. RSVP to me please! Here, via email susan@susanweisbohlen.com or text 410-979-2096.
Sunday, June 8, 1 pm - 4 pm at the Yoga Center of Columbia: Navigating Menopause with Ayurveda (and perhaps some estrogen!) Did you know that our reproductive organs and tissues are important at every stage of life? Not just for fertility and childbirth but also for robust libido, ease in menstruation, combatting vaginal dryness, relieving hot flashes, ensuring deep sleep, maintaining a healthy weight, moving through menopause with greater ease, and healthy production of hormonal secretions. Many of these issues seem to increase with age, but with the help of the ancient health practice of Ayurveda, along with advancements in Western medicine, we can not only survive the changes, we can actually thrive.
Based on remedies, lifestyle changes, foods, and supplements referred to in my best-selling book, The Beginner's Guide to Ayurvedic Home Remedies, you will learn the steps you need to take now to ensure a healthy passage through these stages of life. Cost: $60 early bird price. After June 1, $75. You can sign up HERE

And non-local - Write & Roam Iceland, September 2025, and Bhutan (via India), March 2026. Trip details HERE. Absolutely MAGICAL trips!! Registration is OPEN. Iceland is filling up. Be in touch ASAP to come on the trip!

What is a Write & Roam Journey? I take small groups (no more than 10 people) to exquisite places around the world. We take our time, stay in boutique hotels and guest houses, commune with the locals and each other. Most mornings we spend about an hour writing together, based on prompts and cues from our travels. We share our work (always optional) and then we make our way out into the world. No writing experience is necessary. The method used in the writing salons is designed to foster creativity and expression and deepen your adventure. I have been leading tours for nearly 20 years.
So, I hope May is beautiful for you. I will turn 62 on Saturday! May 10. Happy Birthday to me and Happy Mother’s Day to my 90-year-old mom, Bunny!
xoxo,
Susan
There is a plethora of reading opportunities on Substack. The more authors I know, the more I want to read their thoughts. I'm taking today, a Saturday, to "get caught up" (a myth) on my reading. Good for you to intentionally cull through your readership.
