It’s post-COVID and things are happening. But is it really post-COVID? I just learned about 2 friends who got it coming home from Alaska. I don’t know - it seems better out there but the other shoe might drop.
Before it drops, let’s get together! I’ll be at The Ivy Bookstore this Saturday, July 22 at 10 am for a little chat, a little Q&A, and I’ll sign some books. I was trying to remember my last event there for Seasonal Self-Care Rituals (I love that book), which came out in December 2020. We must have had an event in the spring because it was really nice out. We were outside and didn’t have masks on. hmm. Feels like a fever dream! Maybe people did have masks on.
On Tuesday, August 1 I’ll be chatting with my friends at Pure Indian Foods about using food as medicine, and you can join in! The Beginner’s Guide to Ayurvedic Home Remedies is all about using things you have on hand to help heal common conditions, as well as how to get your hands on stuff you didn’t know about that can also heal you! Link to come.
Oh, I have an ask! If you’ve had a chance to look through Ayurvedic Home Remedies could you please pretty please write a review on Amazon (even if you didn’t buy the book there)? It will help others learn about the book and will make my publisher very happy.
And in the heat of the summer, I’m off to Israel, my (very) old stomping grounds, to hang out with my friends for a few weeks. I might have to participate in a protest or two against the government. I never said this was a politics free-zone.
When I get back I’ll be having a lovely book event catered by my dear friend Catherine Von Ogtrop (OMG she is a baker!!) at Manor Mill in Monkton. We will gather on Friday, September 1, 6 - 8 pm. I am currently teaching writing there and I hope to do it for the rest of my life! This place is so beautiful, pastoral, and peaceful. One day they might just find that I have moved in.
At the end of September, I will be in Montana honing my skills in creative writing with the incredible author and teacher Laura Munson. I hope to come back smarter!
Mid-September I’ll be teaching writing at Roland Park Country School in their Kaleidoscope program (Mondays September 11 - Oct. 9) and meditation, November 13 - 27. More details on those classes soon.
And then it’s off to Iceland for 2 weeks in October and November for our Writing Retreat (you see that? It’s not a WRITER’S retreat - it’s a WRITING retreat!) I have space for TWO more people in the second week of the trip, Oct. 31-Nov. 6. We will write, do yoga, meditate, eat farm-to-table food, and see the most spectacular sites including the Northern Lights, and maybe an active volcano!
So I’m working on a new thing and it’s super personal and really hard to write. I’m posting drips and drabs on medium. If you have any thoughts I’d love to hear them. https://medium.com/@susanweisbohlen
It’s kind of hard working these days as I’m rather consumed with the world burning up. I was reading this book, the Ministry for the Future by Kim Stanley Robinson, last year and I had to put it down because the truth was killing me. I need to pick it back up now to see how this all ends. Have you read it? We all need to.
I love you all! (I wanted to write I love you guys. Then I added gals. And I thought I wasn’t being inclusive and the sentence got really long so it’s just “you all”)
xo,
susan
