Hi!
I’ve got a few things coming up I wanted to invite you to.
Tuesday, August 1 come to a Zoom gathering with Pure Indian Foods to learn more about my new book, The Beginner’s Guide to Ayurvedic Home Remedies, and learn how to set up your own apothecary. I’ll tell you all the essential Ayurvedic and natural remedies you can use to create a personal medicine kit. Here’s the link to the free event: https://www.pureindianfoods.com/pages/zoom-webinars
A space has opened up for our Iceland Write/Meditate/Yoga/Tour Retreat! Trip dates are October 31 - November 6. Contact me right away to grab it. I’m happy to chat with you about the trip. Text/call me at 410-979-2096 or email susan@breatheayurveda.com.
I’m extending my Ayurvedic consultation special pricing through the end of August, but only for those of you who get this newsletter. See details here.
I’ve got a new book signing in case you missed the one at The Ivy (it was so fun!). Manor Mill is hosting me on Friday, September 1, at 6 pm. Sign up here: https://manormillregistration.as.me/?appointmentType=50720515
And I love working with the library, BCPL. I’ve got a Zoom talk that everyone can join on Wednesday, September 6, 7 pm - 8 pm. I don’t have the link yet but you can check the Events Page.
And writing classes at Manor Mill in Monkton will continue when I get back from my summer vacation in Israel, which I’m sure will include protests against the government’s outrageous ruling overriding the Supreme Court. (I became a citizen of Israel in 1986 and lived there for many years. I’m heartbroken over what is happening, Netanyahu following on the heels of Orbán, Trump and Bolsonaro).
AND WE GO ON
So check out these classes for the fall:
You can learn how the writing program works with these 2-hour sessions on Sunday, September 10th from 2 - 4 pm and Sunday, September 23, 10 am - 12 pm. https://ManorMillRegistration.as.me/?appointmentType=50727939
And when you are ready come to my 4-week course, which always fills up. Sign up asap if you want to go deep…
Fridays, November 10 - December 4, 11 am - 1 pm

So, a note:
I feel like I’m living in two completely different worlds. In one world, everything is beautiful. I live surrounded by giant poplar trees and song birds. With a husband I love and our dogs who we adore and spoil to peices. We have good food, trails to walk on, family we love. We make plans for trips and I have time to think about how to be creative, to teach, to come up with new books to write.
In the other world, I wake up anxious about global warming. About missing flights. About not having clean water or air. About the grid going down and not being able to charge my electric car. Forest fires. People drowning in floods. Police violence. People who have no hope. This haunts me and I sometimes feel guilty that I live a nice life.
I don’t have a solution. This is just how I feel. I am the daughter of a refugee of Nazi Germany. How did my father, Rudy Weis, make his way in this world after seeing what he saw? Even though he was never in a camp and he and my grand-parents escaped those horrors, (my great grandparents, however, did not escape) I believe he was deeply effected and never overcame it.
Yet he persevered.
I guess we must do the same.
See the trees.
Breathe the air.
And listen to the song birds.
Love to you all,
Susan
