Hi,
How are you? It’s been a minute!
Larry and I spent two amazing weeks in Iceland with our Write and Roam groups (lots of earthquakes that we didn’t feel, northern lights that we saw nearly every night, and two groups of writers weaving incredible words together, it was amazing). Next up, Bhutan, September 2024. (If you are a paid subscriber you will get the first notice of the trip!)
Two years ago I moved this newsletter from Square Space (after a decade on Constant Contact and before that, I used to send out my Breathe Books email events on AOL. Had to cut and paste addresses in chunks of 20 or 30 at a time.) I’ve been emailing people my thoughts, musings, and events since 2004, nearly 20 years. I heard about Substack from a New Yorker article and Kara Swisher’s old Sway podcast. They were dubious but I thought it was a fantastic idea. Pay the writer for their words! What a concept. But I didn’t think that after receiving my newsletter for free for decades anyone would pay me for it.
And to my great surprise, I was wrong. Of the over 5000 subscribers here, a nice percentage of you have clicked on the paid subscription offer and I am so grateful to you. You like me! Cue Sally Fields:
And I like you. I’m finding the world of Substack to be so supportive, nurturing, and encouraging. It’s a great place to be. If you have something to say, sell, or salvage, I suggest you start a newsletter here. I’ll subscribe!
Now onto an offer. I have an idea for holiday gifts (of course I do! Did you know that in addition to owning a bookstore for 10 years, I also grew up in retail? My family had a chain of women’s clothing stores called Wetzler’s. Anybody out there remember them?)
I have written three books and I’m a contributing writer to a series on the Chakras. I have stacks of books in my dining room that I am happy to personalize for you or your loved ones and mail them to you or your loved ones. My books are a warm and personal invitation to Ayurveda, meditation, healthy cooking and a happy life. One does not need to know anything about Ayurveda to gain benefits from the books. I lead the reader gently through rituals and remedies designed to support and inspire them on a path to a richer, more robust life.
The Beginner’s Guide to Ayurvedic Home Remedies is my newest book. Ayurveda Beginner’s Guide is my first book. Seasonal Self-Care Rituals is the second book. My contributions to Cyndi Dale’s sweet ongoing series on the Chakras include recipes to strengthen and balance your energy system.
They each contain the wisdom of Ayurveda and different ways to navigate the path to feeling good, through healing foods, lifestyle changes, and other actions in your daily routine to feel revitalized and rejuvenated.

So I will leave you with that. Whether you are with friends, family, or on your own this year for Thanksgiving, I hope you find peace and joy. It’s been a difficult season for many, some beyond words. My heart goes out to everyone who has been touched by tragedy.
I love you all,
Susan
